The Raccoon Valley Radio area saw slight increases in unemployment from April to May.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Dallas County went up 0.3 percent from April to May to two-percent unemployment. Guthrie and Greene counties saw an increase in their unemployment rates from April to May of 0.1 percent to 2.5 and 1.8 percent, respectively.

All three counties are continuing to have better numbers than statewide, where the unemployment was stagnant from April to May, remaining at 2.7 percent. The national unemployment rate for May was 3.7 percent, which was a 0.3 percent increase compared to April.
