Greene County entered Tuesday’s non-conference softball game with Twin Lakes Conference member Manson-Northwest Webster having won eight of its last nine games and possessing the number 14 ranking in Class 3A. Playing at the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway in Jefferson Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams were 6-0 winners behind another pitching gem from senior Emma Hoyle and now it’s nine wins in the last 10, For the season the Rams are 15-5 while M-NW fell to 8-11.

Hoyle toss3d a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts , no walks, and no batters hit with a pitch. The only base runners for the Cougars reached on a pair of Greene County errors. Greene County had 11 hits, all singles, and senior Alexa Peters collecting four hits with one run batted in. Olivia Shannon had three hits and a walk and she stole four bases. Hoyle singled once and had two RBI, Payton Kokenge had a pair of hits and one RBI, and Emma Stream had a base hit. The Rams scored twice in the first inning, three times in the third, and once in the fifth.

It’s back in action tonight in Perry vs. the Jayettes at Progressive Field just north of the high school. The Rams won the first meeting between the two by a 4-1 score earlier this month.
