Perry defeated former Raccoon River conference rival Carroll Tuesday night 3-1 in high school baseball at Progressive Field. Junior Drake Levan tossed seven strong innings in picking up his second win of the season. The right hander threw a high volume of first pitch strikes and continually worked ahead in the count to keep the Carroll offense quiet. The Tigers stranded nine runners on base and couldn’t take advantage of five Perry errors. Levan scattered four hits and two walks while allowing one unearned run.
Kaelan Davis provided the game winning hit with his two-run double in the bottom of the fourth inning. Davis smoked a fast ball down the right field line scoring both Fausto Beato and Drake Levan giving Perry a 2-1 lead. The Bluejays finished with five hits.
Perry improves to 5-12 and will travel to Rippey tonight for a 7:15 varsity game with Greene County. The game will be played at historic Anderson Field. You can listen to the game on KDLS.
