A long serving city of Jefferson official is retiring and the public is invited to a couple of opportunities to celebrate the occasion.
Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer is retiring after more than a decade. There are two retirement parties scheduled with the first one being this Thursday at City Hall from 8:30-10:30am. He appreciates everyone he’s worked with over the years and he’s enjoyed his time as city administrator.
“(I’m) very lucky to be part of it. There’s just a great bunch of people and so is the community. I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time, that’s all I can say. Because of the energy out there and it continues (and) the creativity, you can just see it all through the community. It takes a lot of people to do what’s happened. They all got to be on the same page and they certainly have been. It’ll be tough to leave but it’s good to see how the next generations are coming up and keep Jefferson the way it’s going to be.”
The second retirement party is scheduled for July 7th from 5:30-7:30pm at the Jefferson Municipal Golf Course. Palmer also invites everyone to meet the new city administrator Scott Peterson who was hired this past April and will officially take over for Palmer on July 8th.
