After playing their last three games outside the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, Greene County’s high school softball team is back in conference play tonight at the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway in Jefferson. West Marshall is the opponent and the Trojans will be trying to avoid a two-game conference sweep at the hands of the Rams. WM is 10-10 overall, but just 4-6 in the HOIAC while Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams are 13-5, tied for first place in the league at 9-1, and ranked number 14 in Class 3A.

Last Saturday, Emma Hoyle continued an outstanding senior season on the pitching rubber with eight innings of shut out softball in a 1-0 victory over Denison-Schleswig. Hoyle allowed just one hit, walked no one, did not hit anyone with a pitch, and fanned the Monarchs 15 times.

Tonight’s game vs. WM is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
