Law enforcement is reminding motorists to drive with caution with the high volume of construction happening on the roadway.

Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante says that waiting in a work zone can be frustrating for many motorists, but they must remain vigilant and patient. Infante notes that drivers need to also give construction workers enough space to work along the road. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that planning ahead to avoid construction might be the best way to minimize any frustration.

“Plan for extra time. Realize that there’s going to be some slow ups here and there, and there are a very large amount of websites out there that you can use to see where the construction is. And Google will even steer you around it if you use your GPS, if you’re one of those sorts of people. So just plan for it this time of year and also look for it at night as well.”

Infante stresses that motorists need to slow their speed levels down when entering a work zone. He adds that all moving violations in a construction zone are doubled and can go as high as a $1,000 fine.
