The Greene County School Board is looking for a new project for the high school construction class to do for the upcoming school year.

The Board heard about a proposal to improve the restroom facilities at Linduska Field. Construction Instructor Kirk Davis discussed the possible project with the Board at their May meeting with some overview of where the new facility should be located, what it should include and not include. Superintendent Brett Abbotts tells Raccoon Valley Radio he’s hoping that by doing this project it will help bring it up to the expected standards of facilities with the school district.

“It’s honestly just, ‘We need to do something about it and so we are.’ It’s one of those, ‘Hang on and let us finish’ and it will be a quality product that our students built. And again, it’s that district pride and community relations again that we’re really kind of hammering down on and get something that we can all be really proud of.”  

Abbotts points out the district also considered the traditional route of the students building a home, but with the increasing cost for materials, it would cost the district more money than they would probably get in proceeds from selling it.

Abbotts adds he anticipates the Board will consider cost estimates of the project before approving it for the high school construction class to do it for the upcoming school year.
