Greene County baseball played PCM in Prairie City on Wednesday night in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play.The Mustangs are 9-8 overall, but 8-2 in the conference after topping Greene County, 10-4. The Rams are 1-12 on the season and 0-8 in the HOIAC and now own an 11 game losing streak.
Matthew Hovick went all six innings on the pitching mound, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits, two walks, and two batters hit with pitches. The Rams were charged with a season high nine errors while PCM committed three errors.
The Rams had 10 hits with doubles by Adam Bills and Gavyn Winters. The other eight hits were singles by Hovick, Bills, Winters, Lane Fields, Noah Hinote, Brayden Roberts, and two for Camden Jacobs. Roberts drove in two runs with one RBI apiece by Bills and Winters.
The Rams led 3-1 after 1-1/2 innings before the Mustangs took control with a seven run second.
It’s a conference varsity doubleheader tonight vs. Roland-Story in Story City for Greene County.
