Coach Tom Kennedy’s Greene County High School softball team hosted Roland-Story (Story City) on Tuesday night in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play with the Rams winning by a 10-6 final. The Rams are now 10-4 overall and 8-1 in the conference while R-S fell to 8-8 and 6-4.
Emma Hoyle struck out a career best 16 batters and the four hits she allowed were all singles. Hoyle hit two batters with pitches and walked three. Only one run was earned and all five seventh inning runs were unearned because of three Greene County errors, all with two outs.
The Rams tolled up 14 hits with two doubles and a single by Emma Stream and three singles for Olivia Shannon. Payton Kokenge and Chanlyn Cunningham each had two singles. Hoyle, Sara Morlan, Paige Teeples, and Becca Anderson all added a single. Hoyle and Kokenge had two runs batted in with one each for Morlan, Shannon, and Anderson.
Tonight the Rams are on the road in Monroe vs. PCM, the only team to hang a conference loss on Greene County through the first rotation of games in the league.
