The AC/GC Chargers hosted the Woodward-Granger Hawks last night. The baseball team started things off with a short game, both teams collecting a run in the first inning and going scoreless in the second. The Chargers then picked up another run in the third inning, before the Hawks ran away with the score by tallying 5 runs in the fourth and 6 in the fifth inning, and taking the game 12-2.
Junior Lance Bunde led the team in hits, with 2 hits, a 667 batting average, 1 run and a single. Senior Alex Spack led in RBI’s with 1 hit, a 333 batting average, 1 run, 1 RBI and a single. Freshman Blaize Dorsey led in the three pitching stats, with a 6.3 ERA, 3 and 1/3 innings pitched and 2 strikeouts.
The softball team saw the reverse for results, as the team shutout the Hawks, and collected 2 runs in the second and third innings, and put up 6 runs in the fifth, taking the game 10-0. The biggest hits came from Mersadez Richter in the 3rd inning, when she hit a line drive double base hit to center field, advancing Hayden Coffman and Jayla Hoover to collect the innings 2 runs. In the fifth inning, Regan Carney collected her first hit of the night, a 2 RBI double, and Jenna Rowley and Emerson Van Meter both collected double base hits off of errors.
Van Meter led the team from the mound, only allowing 3 opponent at bats for four of the five innings, and only allowing 4 at bats for the fourth inning. Raccoon Valley Radio will be following the team to Madrid tonight, and broadcasting the baseball game at 6pm.
