Greene County head boys’ soccer coach Carl Behne and assistant Chad Black have been the only high school soccer coaches the Rams have had in their five seasons of competition. The results are unmatched in Greene County sports as the 2019, 2021, and now ’23 Rams all qualified for the State Soccer Tournament.
Behne told Raccoon Valley Radio the 2024 team has a goal of again qualifying for the State Tournament, and getting past the quarterfinal round for the first time. The Rams lost to Iowa City Regina in 1A their first two trips, then fell to 2A Champion Gilbert in the quarterfinals this season.
“We have continuity in our program with myself and Coach Black, and we have several siblings on our team that had older brothers play for us in our earlier years as a program.” The Rams graduate second team All-State Forward Jose Velazco and other seniors, but return first team All-State Forward Gesser Gutierres and eight regular starters in all.
