Ribbon cutting in May of 2023 at Iowa Cover Crop

Tomorrow is a grand opening for one newly established business just south of Jefferson.

Iowa Cover Crop is hosting the event from 4-7pm at their location, 1669 N Avenue south of Jefferson. Co-Owner Bill Frederick tells Raccoon Valley Radio they were looking to build a new location after the December 2021 tornado hit their facility in Paton and they were able to purchase the property that they are now at. Co-Owner James Holz talks about what he’s most impressed with their new space.

“Just the access on the highway (Iowa Highway 4), everyone drives by and sees where we’re at. So it’s kind of advertising in its own, seeing a big building here south of town. It’s halfway between Bill (Frederick) and I. Bill lives near Bagley and I live in Grand Junction, so both of us can pop over here in ten minutes notice.”

The business mainly sells cover crops from over 15 dealers in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Missouri.

The grand opening will include a light meal, along with live music, the Greene County Cattlemen’s Association will be grilling burgers and hotdogs, and there will be some vendor booths set up. The event is free and open to the public.
