The Perry Chamber of Commerce is launching a new shop local promotion.

The initiative is called “Perry-opoly,” which will encourage shoppers to spend their money at local dining and retail businesses. Executive Director Lynsi Pasutti says that “Perry-opoly” will be a game that closely resembles the famous “Monopoly” board game. Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio how the game works.

“It looks and feels like a very popular board game. We have 24 businesses participating as properties where you can go shop or dine and collect those property cards. And then if you collect all three in the property block, you can turn those in for a chance to win a prize. So that’s one of three ways to participate.”

Pasutti says that there are two other ways to win prizes like $25 in Perry Bucks or a $50 gift card to a participating business by donating to local organizations and then earning community chest cards. She adds people can also attend community events and post photos to social media with the hashtag “PERRYOPLY.” She notes that people can pick up playing cards at participating businesses.
