A first-ever golf tournament to honor a beloved educator and golf coach from Jefferson was recently held.
The Keith Vander Wilt Memorial Golf Tournament happened on May 27th at the Jefferson Municipal Golf Course. A total of $2,300 was raised to help the Greene County High School golf teams to purchase golf bags, indoor nets and other equipment for players. There were a total of 64 players that made up 16 teams and one of the high school coaches, Kyle Kinne says they enjoyed the day and felt this was a great way to honor the memory of Vander Wilt, who dedicated his life to teaching in the classroom and coaching kids on the golf course who passed away last August. He adds Keith’s wife Beth and the family also enjoyed being there.
Heath Telleen is the other head coach and thanks Jefferson Hy-Vee for donating the food for the meals and the Clubhouse Manager Joe Foote and his team for setting up the tournament.
