There will be an upcoming program that will discuss the rich traditions of the state of Iowa.

Forest Park Museum Curator Pete Malmberg will host the program called “Iowa Folklore,” which will bring people together from 1:30 to 2:30pm on Sunday at the Forest Park Museum to discuss the traditional sayings and beliefs in the state’s history. Malmberg tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this program will also address what folklore is and the origins.

“ But it’s all the folk beliefs and stuff. We will emphasize the folk songs, of which there’s some really, really cool ones that a guy recorded information about back in 1931 and wrote a whole book on it. And his archives are at Iowa State and I’ll feature his book and a whole description of the different songs he featured and and play some back in my laptop and some of that. That’ll be fun.”

Malmberg says registration is encouraged, but not required. The program is free and open to the public.
