
The Dallas Center-Grimes boys soccer team falls in the quarterfinals of the Iowa High School Athletic Association 2023 Class 3a State Tournament Tuesday.
The 3-Seeded Mustangs got upset by the 6-seeded Iowa City Liberty Lightening in a final match score of 4 to 2. Junior Ben Jackson scored two goals in this match including one at the 33 minute mark in the first half and the second at the 36 minute mark in the second half, but it wasn’t enough. Senior Hayden Saul scored two unanswered goals to tie the game in the first half and the other to take the lead in the second half.
Their final record will be (13-4) on the season with a conference championship and a state quarterfinal exit.
The (15-3)Dallas Center-Grimes girls soccer team has the luxury of being the 2-seed in the class 2a state tournament, but will draw the 7-seeded Marion Wolves (12-2). Raccoon Valley Radio will broadcast this game live on KDLS 94.3 99.7FM and 1310AM or on our webstream starting at 12:45pm with match time set for 1pm.
