The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The Board approved a liquor license for Coulter’s Panorama Marine, Inc. and to reimburse Guthrie County Deputy Kent Gries for hotel and travel expenses incurred during a recent out of state training, and discuss with Deputy Gries how they could help with other costs (airfare and meals) from the trip as well. They then approved a payroll change notice for Facilities Maintenance Technician Jason Godwin, and tabled a decision on a payroll change notice for Marci Shreck to be hired as a part-time civil clerk with the sheriff’s office until next week.
The Board then heard from County Attorney Dana Minteer. In her update Minteer said that from this year’s budget, her office would be able to give back about $9,000 on the assistant attorney line item, as there was a short time when there was no assistant attorney, and when the new assistant attorney was hired it was at a lower salary. She also shared that Assistant County Attorney Zoee Risdal had been performing above and beyond expectations, and that she was planning to increase Risdal’s salary to $88,000. She mentioned that her budget for the current fiscal year would support that, but that next year’s would not, but that she believed her office could bring in enough revenue to cover the difference. The Board came to a consensus that should the attorney’s office need to make a budget amendment at a later date they could.
In department head updates the Board heard from Facilities Manager Brandon Thompson that his department is working with Excel Mechanical on the Courthouse’s HVAC system and should be finished soon, and will be repainting courthouse parking lots this weekend, and from County Engineer Josh Sebern on a Department of Transportation budget amendment, before posting a notice for a public hearing pertaining to fiscal year 2023-24 budget amendment number two.
