PCM (Monroe) made the long bus trips to Jefferson worthwhile with a baseball/softball sweep in Jefferson vs. Greene County on Friday night. The baseball final was 12-0 in five innings by the 10-run rule, and the softball game went to the Mustangs by a 6-3 score.
KG98 broadcast baseball with PCM dominating the action. Trenner Van Dyke tossed a five inning no-hitter with eight strikeouts. He walked three and the left-hander did not hit a batter. The Mustangs played errorless baseball. PCM had 13 hits and they took advantage of being walked seven times and being hit three times by pitches. The closest the Rams came to getting a base hit came in the fifth inning when shortstop Adrion Robbins robbed Adam Bills with a leaping catch in shallow left field. Greene County is 0-2 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play and 1-3 overall while the Mustangs improved to 2-1 in the league and 2-3 overall.
