The Dallas Center-Grimes baseball team is on a five game winning streak with a doubleheader sweep against Waukee Northwest Thursday night.
The Mustangs defeated the Wolved in game one by a score of 8 to 5. The game went into the 11th innings and Dallas Center-Grimes prevailed after excellent relief pitching from Tate Perrin and timely hitting by Eli Rupp and Taitn Gray.
In game two, it was a matchup between two quality pitchers including Dayne Mauk from Dallas Center-Grimes and Saahi Jetti from Waukee Northwest. Mauk threw a complete game shut out going seven innings strong and striking out seven batters. Jetti also went all seven innings, but allowed a triple from Ty Mikkelsen and a RBI single from Eli Rupp in the top of the second inning. The final score was 1 to 0.
Mustangs are now (6-2) on the season. They will play Winterset on Tuesday of next week.
