The Perry Public Library has opened up registration for their upcoming children and teen summer reading programs.

Their children’s summer reading program will start on June 1st. The theme this year will be called “All Together Now!,” which will focus on making new friends, spreading kindness and finding ways to help the community. The reading program will feature pre-planned activities, programs and field trips. Children will log their reading minutes and track activities they have been to for a chance to win prizes like a Kindle Fire tablet, STEM package, home plate tickets at the Iowa Cubs game and the grand prize will be a family picnic. Age groups will be divided from infants to fifth grade.

Additionally, the teen summer reading program is scheduled to meet Friday afternoons, but will kick start on June 1st for teens in grades sixth through twelfth grade. There will be activities like a Stranger Things Escape Room, Meme-A-Book and a blindfolded Survivor style team challenge. Teens will earn scratch off tickets by attending programs, checking out books, writing book reviews or donating supplies and each ticket is worth a prize which includes winning new books, candy, gift cards and more. Parents can sign up in-person at the library or online and can choose whichever program they’d like their child to participate in.
