The Perry Emergency Food Pantry made a change to their operation which in return they have seen an influx of customers.

Food Pantry Supervisor Lou Hoger says they have changed their business hours and now they are open from 10am until 12:30pm on Tuesday and from 3 to 6pm on Thursday. Hoger tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the afternoon hours have allowed community members getting off work to come in and take advantage of the food pantry.

“There were people who called and weren’t able to access the pantry because of the hours. Also, Gus Henrici, who’s a chaplain out at the Tyson Pork plant, is on our board of directors. And Gus had raised that concern with us. And so we would continue to look at what adjustments need to be made in our schedule to make sure we’re benefiting all of the people who might be in need of the food pantry services.”

Hoger says they have also seen an increase in visitors due to the inflation and the economy.
