Last week at the Adair – Casey School Board meeting, the Board hired a new principal.

Ed Den Beste will be the AC Elementary and Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center Junior High Principal starting with the new fiscal year. He currently is a Teacher Leadership and Compensation (TLC) Coordinator for Atlantic Community School District, and has been in the position for eight years. As AC/GC Superintendent Josh Rasmussen worked at Atlantic CSD before coming to AC/GC, he’s had the chance to work with Den Beste before.

“I know Ed very well. That being said, I know he’s going to bring a lot of knowledge and a lot of experience to our staff, which is going to benefit our students and staff and our community. So I’m really looking forward to him, his experience and just watching him get to know our community and our families there at Adair – Casey and Guthrie Center. It’s a great place to work. It’s a great place to learn and live.”

Rasmussen mentions that Den Beste holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Iowa and a master’s in educational administration from Iowa State University. He adds that Den Beste’s previous educational experiences include serving as an Elementary Classroom Teacher, Special Education Teacher, Special Education Director and TLC Coordinator.
