The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The Board approved two payroll change notices during department head updates, including Brooke Halterman for Health Services and Cameron Hester for Secondary Roads Department. Also during the department head updates, the Board heard from County Conservation Director Brad Halterman on work that would be started to replace bridge approaches on the Raccoon River Valley Trail, Health Services Director Jotham Arber on new marketing material for Public and Environmental Health, and County Engineer Josh Sebern about the new tractor being delivered, and a batwing mower being on the way.

The Board then set June 6th as the public hearing for fiscal year 2023-24 budget amendment two. Then in discussions about the Law Enforcement Center, the Samuels Group pay application 30 was approved after adjustments. Supervisors Mike Dickson advised the rest of the Board that he had talked with their representative for Samuels Group, and they discovered that the system the company uses for billing had accidentally added a credit as an expense, so the actual payment was only $21,709.49,

Sheriff Marty Arganbright told the Board that only two panes of the detention glass had not been installed yet, as they were shorted one and one broke, but that replacements should be available and installed by the June 6th inspection date. The open house for the new jail was discussed as well, and the previously set dates were changed to June 24th and 25th, to allow more time for an insert to be written for the newspaper.

Arganbright also mentioned that he and others would be willing to make donations to fund the outdoor signage for the Law Enforcement Center, but would like to change the signage to say “Guthrie County Sheriff” instead of “Guthrie County Law Enforcement Center.” Board Chair, Supervisor Brian Johnson motioned to approve the change in signage, but the motion died for lack of a second.
