The two school boards that oversee the Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center school district both meet this week.
The Guthrie Center School Board met on Monday, approving a 2022-23 certified budget amendment, resignations, contract recommendations, and discussed the replacement of three air handling units. AC/GC Superintendent Josh Rasmussen tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Board also decided to add a sport.
“Finally, our girls wrestling program previously is shared with Panorama and West Central Valley. It went extremely well. We have ten girls that participated in that wrestling program, and as we kind of looked into that this spring, we decided to go ahead and hire our own girls wrestling coach and have our own program.”
The Board also approved some extracurricular sharing agreements, spring 2023 reductions, flexible benefit plan agreement and physical education waiver for the high school. Then on Wednesday the Adair – Casey School Board met, and approved contract recommendations, a contract with Lifescape and resignations, including current principal Chris Douglas. They also approved non-certified staff salary increases, extra-duty contract recommendations, administrator and director/coordinator contracts and Teacher Leadership and Compensation (TLC) contract recommendations.
The Board also approved the hire of Ed Den Beste as the new Principal for A/C Elementary and AC/GC Junior High. Rasmussen mentions that Den Beste comes to the district from Atlantic, where he worked as their Teacher Leadership and Compensation Coordinator.
