The Perry School District has begun the rolling out process of their new strength and agility program.

Perry Activities Director Katelyn Whelchel says that they are starting to take registrations from Perry student athletes for their new “Englebert Training Systems,” (ETS) which is a program that looks to improve a student athlete’s speed, power and development. Whelchel says they are accepting current 3rd through 11th grade students for the cost of $25 and the payments cannot be made later than June 2nd with the training starting on June 5th. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this is a great opportunity for any type of student athlete in the district to get better at their sport of choice with professional help.

“Not only is this going to help, you know, in terms of activities and making kids stronger and faster and more competitive, but this is going to help us create stronger and healthier students overall. This is going to have such a great impact, not only on the field or the court, but also in the classroom.”

ETS Lead Performance Coach Chase Lester says through their program they have trained over 50,000 athletes that includes people in the professional, college and youth levels. Lester explains what they will try and accomplish.

“My ideal goal, in five years, hopefully Perry is just competitive in every single sport, if not winning every single game that they have. I really kind of look at it in the future first, but for me it’s more about just the impact we can have in that community. I’m big on relationships. You know, I’m big on science too, behind our training.”

Lester says that in this program the females and males will be split up and on different schedules. The Perry School Board approved a three year agreement for the services of ETS Performance and it is primarily funded by the Perry Youth Groups and Booster Club.
