A Menlo woman is facing multiple charges of fraud and forgery in Polk County stemming from investigations by two Des Moines area businesses.
Angel Welker of Menlo is facing charges of theft in the 1st degree, a Class C Felony, and five charges of forgery, a Class D Felony. These charges were brought against her after an investigation found she had allegedly used five checks from her employer Vision Park Family Eyecare to steal a total of $10,293.52 over the span of 12 days.
This comes after a case earlier this year was brought against Welker for allegedly stealing from her employer at the time, Infomax. In that case, she is facing charges of money laundering to acquire property, two counts of theft in the first degree and unauthorized use of a credit card for an amount over $10,000, all Class C Felonies, and one count of forgery, a Class D Felony. Welker allegedly used an Infomax business credit card 35 different times, totaling up $36,951.27, and wrote herself 29 checks for $17,574.62, for a grand total of $54,525.89.
