Dallas Center-Grimes baseball will start their season at home and it will be featured on Raccoon Valley Radio tonight.

Its a brand news season for the Mustangs and a new position for former assistant coach Curt Castenson as it will be his first game as the head manager. The Mustangs finished third in the conference and had a (21-15) record last year under head coach Byron Peyton. Castenson tells Raccoon Valley Radio Sports its been a dream come true to be the new head coach at Dallas Center-Grimes.

“Definitely a dream come true. I’m very humbled to take over this position at a school with a lot of rich tradition when it comes to baseball. So I know I have some big shoes to fill following coach Peyton, but I’m excited to get get going here.”

Castenson says they bring back five seniors including Clayton Campidilli who was on first all conference with .435 batting average, 14 home runs and 38 runs batted in. Also they bring back Trevor Hamil who logged 46 innings pitched with a 3.96 Earn Run Average. The Mustangs will take the field at 7pm against Ballard, the reigning Raccoon River Conference champions last year. The pre-game coverage will start around 6:45pm on 94.3, 99.7FM and 1310AM KDLS Raccoon Valley Radio.
