Terry Rottinghaus, 2023 DAISY Award winner

To recognize National Nurses Week, Greene County Medical Center held a pair of award ceremonies Wednesday afternoon in the main lobby.

The first program was for the Partner in Nursing Award. This year’s recipient is Tam Andre in acute care. The award was created in 2020 and given to a team member that forms partnerships of mutual respect and support to give the best possible outcome for a patient and their family. There were seven nominees and they included: Anne Carstens, Jamie McDonald, Sara Miller, Judy Murphy, Deana Shriver and Phyllis Woodley, along with Andre.

The second program was for the DAISY Award, which goes to a nurse that exemplifies extraordinary care. This year’s recipient was 11-year nursing veteran Terry Rottinghaus with acute care. Rottinghaus was shocked to receive the award and talked about what inspired her to become a nurse.

“I helped my father-in-law with hospice care and they suggested I become a nurse. So after my son was out of school and I didn’t have to worry about it, I was a late bloomer and became a nurse.”

Along with Rottinghaus, there were 11 other nominees and they were: Erin Ackerson, Stacey Biggart, Noelle Clouse, Matt Gordon, Macie Hagen, Deb Hoskins, Janey McCabe, Teresa Morlan, Dan Scheuermann, Abby Skoglund and Chelsie Thompson.
