The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The Board approved a liquor license for The Little Country Store on the Hill, then heard from Don Slaybaugh from the Masonic Lodge. He told the Board that the Guthrie Center Branch of the Masons was reaching out to the Grand Lodge to get a dedication plaque for the new Law Enforcement Center. They then discussed the Law Enforcement Center, as Samuels Group has offered to pay for the plaque in the entrance area.
Last week the Board approved outdoor signage as well, as the Sheriff’s Office believed they had funds left in their budget to pay for it this fiscal year, but after review Board Chair Supervisor Brian Johnson believed that that was not true. Johnson then motioned for the Supervisors to pay for a lighted version of the sign with it saying “Guthrie County Sheriff,” but the motion died for lack of a second. After some further discussion, Supervisors Mike Dickson motioned for the Board to pay for an unlit version of the sign with it saying “Guthrie County Law Enforcement Center,” as it was the cheapest option. Dickson, along with Supervisors Maggie Armstrong and JD Kuster voted yes, and Johnson along with Supervisor Steve Smith voted no as they would have liked to stay with a lighted option.
The board then gave updates on meetings they have attended recently, and some they have coming up. Dickson brought up that there was still a department who hasn’t signed the new version of the Guthrie County Employee Handbook, before the Board entered a closed session to discuss legal matters with counsel.
