As the weather has become warmer, many have been getting ready for a staple of the summer months, the local farmers market.
For Stuart residents, that means getting ready to head to Lawbaugh Park on Wednesdays starting next week. The Stuart Farmers Market will take place from 4:30-6:30pm every Wednesday from May 17th to October 18th this year. Market Manager Susan Ruden tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the market has a variety of produce that comes through while they’re open.
“Asparagus, lettuce and the early crops and kohlrabi. We’ll have kohlrabi this first week and a lot of people like that. Then, as the season goes along, we’ll have tomatoes and peppers and cucumbers, a lot of people like those that are a real favorite. And sweet corn and all those vegetables that people look forward to every summer, we’ll have quite a variety. And melons towards the end, and squash. And at the very end we have pumpkins. So we have a little bit of everything throughout the season.”
Ruden mentions vendors at the market usually accept only cash, but that some may accept PayPal or Venmo.
