A reminder that this weekend baseball fans and anyone looking for some entertainment can travel to the small Greene County town of Rippey.

Rippey Baseball Commission Promoter Bruce Thome tells Raccoon Valley Radio after the Rippey Ruckus there will be high school sanctioned games through the Iowa High School Athletic Association that will be played in Rippey as well. Thome talks about his discussion he had with Mel Murken, who was a long time coach and one of the caretakers of the field.

“So when Mel was telling me, he’s like, ‘Why would all these big schools, they have nice fields, why would they want to come to this place.’ I told him, I’m like, ‘Coach it’s the experience,’ you know I’m like, ‘These kids that played last year, these kids that are coming today, they’re going to be like, man

There are games throughout today starting at 9am and tomorrow starts at 10am with the Rippey Ruckus Cup to be played around 12:30pm. There’s no admission charge for any of the games and concession items will be available for purchase.
