Greene County Public Health was recently awarded a grant to bring awareness and education about child abuse in the county.
The Communities 4 Children Decategorization and Community Partnerships for Protecting Children Neighborhood and Community Networks mini grants provided funding for Greene County Public Health to distribute two kinds of books in an effort to reduce and prevent child abuse. One of the books called “My Body Belongs to Me from My Head to My Toes” by Jill Starishevsky was given to the kindergarten through fourth grade classes with the Greene County School District and kindergarten through third graders with the Paton-Churdan School District.
The other book that was also written by Starishevsky, “No Means No!” was distributed to county libraries, learning centers, in-home daycares, medical organizations and law enforcement centers, along with a Spanish language version.
