The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Coed Track & Field Meet is today starting at 4 p.m. in Des Moines at Saydel High School. Coach Derek Merk’s girls’ team is coming off a title at Monday’s North Polk Invitational and the Rams appear to be a legitimate contender for the team title tonight. Greene County leads conference schools in eight events, but no athlete can participate in more than four events per day, so the coach will have some decisions to make when putting his lineup together.

Coach Chad Morton’s Greene County boys were shorthanded at Alleman, but the coach believes the Rams will be at or near full strength for the conference meet. Greene County has the best performances this season in four events among conference teams heading into today’s action.

Today’s action is the last of the regular season for the Greene County teams. Next Thursday the 11th both girls and boys squads travel to Ida Grove for a Class 2A State Qualifying meet hosted by OABCIG. The State Coed Meet is May 18-19-20 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
