The North Polk Comet Coed track & field invitational was held on Monday at Alleman with the Greene County high school teams competing. Coach Derek Merk’s girls were first among eight teams with 129.66 points and the boys finished last in a seven team field with 68.5 points.

Girls victories were Payton Kokenge in the high jump at 5′ 1″, Olivia Shannon in the 200 meter dash at 27.13 seconds, Katrina Heupel in the 400 meter dash at 1:05.01, Kaycee Pittman in the 800 meter run in 2:39.35, and the 4 x 400 meter relay in 4:27.69 with Natalie Heupel, Pittman, Katrina Heupel, and Kamryn Sanders.

The Rams did not win any events for boys, but Isaac Carman was second in the discus throw at 130′ 11″ and Trey Schilling was the 200 meter dash runner-up in 23.92 seconds.

All that’s left on the regular season schedule for the Rams is the May 4 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Coed Meet in Des Moines at Saydel High School starting at 4 p.m. The Class 2A State Qualifying Coed Meet the Rams have been assigned to in Ida Grove is set for 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 11.
