Perry Community School District students will get to enjoy their prom this weekend with a new twist.

The prom events will kick off on Saturday with the grand march at 5pm which will take place outside of Railroad street near the Hotel Pattee in previous years it took place at the Perry Performing Arts Center. Perry’s Prom Committee Member Andrea Tunick says the new location fits this year’s theme called the “Roaring 20’s.”

“So along with the Roaring 20s, we decided we wanted to have a red carpet event. So we will be closing down Willis between First and Second Street starting at 3pm on Saturday. We’ll have all of our decorations out and then we’re bringing in Bleachers. The city is helping us with that. So we’ll have bleachers all down Railroad Street.”

Tunick says students will be dropped off by a classic car, convertible or a limo in a parade style event to walk the red carpet into the Hotel Pattee for dinner at 6pm. Then after dinner, the prom-goers will be sent to the La Poste for the dance from 8 to 11pm. Finally, the night will close with after prom activities like inflatable games, mini golf, laser tag and entertainment from a comedian.
