The Perry City Council met on Monday

During open forum, Kerry Corrigan handed the Council a petition with 549 signatures that requested the reconsideration of the allowance of the discharge of fireworks within the Perry City limits. Corrigan said that the city of Perry should model their firework policy closely to the city of Ankeny, which only allows the discharge of fireworks between July 2nd through 4th, from 7pm until 10pm. She also requested the Council to reconsider legalizing novelty fireworks.

Then the  Council approved five underground electric line easements to be buried by Alliant Energy to help improve their system and provide electric lines to forthcoming solar fields. They also approved the request from Bolten and Menk to develop web-based geographic information system programs, grant applications for the budgeted capital expenditures and the resolution supporting the month of April as community college month and the DMACC Van Kirk Academy.

The Council set public hearings on May 15th at the Towncraft Building for the  fiscal year 2023 budget amendment and to declare a structure located at 1726 2nd Street to be dangerous and demolished.

In old business, they approved the change order for the Pierce fire apparatus for the cost of $3,069, a contract with Region 12 and a pay application for the 2020 downtown street and utility improvements project.
