An important step for some county and state fair competitors is coming up.
This Saturday, the Adair County Iowa State Extension and Outreach Office will be holding a weigh-in for those showing sheep and goats. All breeding and market varieties of both species need to be weighed and tagged before they can be shown at the fair. Tags will be available at the weigh-in for $2 each.
For the State Fair there is also a retinal scan required for each animal, so if 4-H and FFA members need to have the scan done they can make an appointment by calling the office ahead of time at the number listed in this story online. The weigh-in will be from 8-10am at the Adair County Fairgrounds.
