As the school year winds down, the Paton-Churdan Music Department is coming off of a busy last couple of weeks.

K-12 Music Instructor Shannon Hobbs tells Raccoon Valley Radio there were two duets that received a Division I-rating from the Class 1A Iowa High School Music Association State Solo and Small Ensemble Contest from Woodbine on April 15th. These duets were: Autumn Consier and Bailey Anderson for their alto saxophone duet and Mia Russell and Calleigh Fitzpatrick for their flute duet.

Hobbs says several students participated in the Iowa Choral Directors Association Honor Choir at Ballard on April 21st. Hobbs mentions ten 5th and 6th graders went, while she took nine 7th and 8th graders.

Hobbs adds their final performance of the school year is a Secondary Pops Concert on May 16th at 7pm in the P-C gym. This concert will highlight lots of pop music, as well as the two duets that earned a Division I-rating at the State Solo and Small Ensemble Contest. A list of the 5th-8th graders that performed as part of the honor choir concert  can be found below.
