The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council approved the renewal of a liquor license for the Guthrie Center Municipal Golf Course, a tobacco permit renewal for Sparky’s One Stop, a building permit for the 700 block of Grand Street and a fence permit for the 200 block of McLuen Street . They then heard an update from Street/Wastewater Superintendent Darin Sloss on a pretreatment agreement between the City and the Guthrie County Fairgrounds.

The Council then heard an update on the electricity and lights in Mitchell Park from Eldon Wolfe, who received a quote from Berger Electric and the State Electrical Inspector to replace the electricity that Alliant Energy had turned off earlier. City Clerk Kris Arrasmith shared that she spoke with a representative from Alliant, and was hopeful that they could come to an amicable agreement to get electricity back on in the park. Arrasmith will update the Council once she’s received further feedback from Alliant. The Council then held a public hearing on the proposed 2023-24 budget, and after receiving no written or verbal complaints, requests or questions, the Council adopted the budget.
