When the Greene County girls play varsity soccer in State Center at 5 p.m. today vs. West Marshall, they’ll be facing a team with something in common- a squad looking for its first victory. The Rams are 0-4 while the Trojans are 0-7. Greene County has scored five goals in its four matches while WM has two goals in the seven times they’ve played.
The Greene County boys are 6-0 and ranked eighth in 2A, but have yet to face a team with a winning record. Des Moines Christian is tonight’s opponent, but the Lions are 3-4 on the season, although they’ve played a scheduled containing mostly bigger schools. Gesser Gutierres has scored 16 goals for the Rams and Jose Velazco has put the ball in the net 10 times. The Rams have a 39-3 advantage in goals scored so far this season.
