The Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Agency recently announced that as of 9am April 20th, the burn bans that had been in effect have been lifted.
Adair and Guthrie County EMA believes that due to the amount of rain received in the last week, the dry conditions throughout the area have been greatly reduced, and with off and on rain chances in the next week, local fire chiefs decided it was safe to remove the burn bans.
Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Deputy Coordinator Jeremy Cooper tells Raccoon Valley Radio that when individuals plan on doing a controlled burn, it is best practice to contact the local fire department and sheriff’s office to let them know. Providing them with a location, date and time of the controlled burn helps to prevent potential false alarms for the local volunteers.
