A Linden man was sentenced for committing insurance fraud
According to court documents, 40-year-old Joseph Bennett pled guilty to presenting false information and one count of fraudulent application submission, both are considered a Class D Felony. As part of a plea agreement, Bennett had a five year prison sentence suspended and was placed on supervised probation for five years with the Iowa Department of Corrections and pay a fine of $2,050.
The charge stemmed from an investigation that began in September of 2022 when the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau received information that Bennett had provided false information to an insurer following an automobile accident in Dallas County.
