A Grand Junction man was recently sentenced to prison for a drug-related incident.
According to court documents, 58-year-old Jerry Barker pled guilty to an amended charge of a Class C Felony for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, habitual offender. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with a mandatory minimum of three years before he is eligible for parole. He was also given credit for time already served.
The charge stemmed from an incident on June 23, 2022. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant of Barker’s home and found a safe that had methamphetamines and a ledger with drug sale transactions. Other drug items were sent to the Division of Criminalistics Laboratory and were positive for controlled substances.
Barker’s original charge was a Class B Felony for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, but was amended to a Class C Felony. As per the plea agreement, all other charges including felonies for failure to affix drug tax stamp, two third or subsequent offenses for possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor for unlawful possession of a prescription drug were dismissed.
