The Greene County Historical Society is starting up a new year of monthly programming with a kick-off later this week.
This Friday the historical society will feature the two county swimming pools. Denise O’Brien Van will be the guest speaker, as she talks about the Jefferson swimming pool and its beginnings when it first opened in 1937and partially paid for through the federal government and constructed by Works Progress Administration, along with the Grand Junction pool that was funded by a $75,000 bond and first opened in 1965.
The free program will be held at 12:45pm on Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. A lunch will also be provided at noon for $10. Call each community contact to reserve a meal, and that information can be found below.
