Guthrie Center residents may have seen some familiar names on the Mary J Barnett Memorial Library’s April newsletter.
Library Director Jerri Hawkins tells Raccoon Valley Radio that on Saturday there will be a program telling the story of two individuals from Guthrie Center’s past that fought with the “Greatest Generation” in the “War to End All Wars,” World War II.
“So Dr. (Donald) Todd and Dr. (Herbert) Neff were former physicians here in Guthrie Center. And Dr. Todd’s son Donald (Todd) Jr. is going to be the speaker of the program, and he is going to share the story of the two soldiers during World War II.”
Hawkins says that the library is excited to have Donald Jr. in to speak on the history of the two veterans, and tell the story of their lives as they served. The program will start at 10:30am, and is free and open to the public.
