Greene County ISU Extension is partnering with Greene County Medical Center to host another workshop to help individuals who might be suffering from suicidal thoughts.

Extension Director Lori Mannel says the “Question, Persuade, Refer” class will be held from noon-1:30pm at the medical center education classroom tomorrow. Topics that will be covered include what signs to look for if you notice someone who might be experiencing suicidal thoughts, individuals who seem stressed and how to help with suicide prevention. Mannel talks about the importance of this class.

“I believe that awareness is heightened and a lot of things that have been going on in our world, recognizing the warning signs, how to help someone, to question them. Before it would be maybe too personal to ask some questions, and these will give you some tips and make you feel more comfortable in visiting with someone who may not seem to be acting their normal selves.”

ISU Extension Human Science Specialist Anthony Santiago will lead the class, which is free for anyone to join. Contact the Extension Office in Jefferson at 515-386-2138 to learn more or to sign up.
