April 1st was the Iowa High School Music Association’s State Solo and Ensemble Competition, and the three schools of Guthrie County all sent competitors.
Adair – Casey Guthrie Center had seven Division-I ratings, including the performances of their woodwind, saxophone, brass and percussion choirs, and solos by Isabelle Rouse on the trumpet and Haley Cose on the Contra Alto Clarinet. AC/GC also had five Division-II ratings, including a flute duet by Sofia Brown and Shyann Young, flute solos by Sofia Brown and Emmarae Ellis, a clarinet solo by Allie DeWitt and an alto saxophone solo by Ali Plagman.
West Central Valley received a Division-II rating for a choral solo by Meleah Spechinger, and Panorama received a Division-I rating for a choral duet by Haley Malloy and Hannah Malloy. A full list of placements and competitions can be found in this story online.
