Severe weather and strong winds will likely impact central Iowa tomorrow.
According to the National Weather Service, they’re expecting a fast moving severe storm late Friday morning that will go into the afternoon that will bring wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour with a cold front and a possibility of precipitation. NWS Meteorologist Brooke Hagenhoff encourages people living in central Iowa to be weather aware.
“You can expect some damaging winds, large hail, and there’s a chance for a tornado as well, somewhere in Iowa that day as well. Temperatures will drop pretty quickly behind the cold front. And then there’s a chance for just a light dusting of snow Friday night as temperatures cool off and the storms move out of the area.”
Hagenhoff reminds folks with the damaging high winds that will start on Thursday to secure any loose outdoor items. She expects the largest accumulation of precipitation to occur in northern Iowa.
