Greene County Public Health is once again developing a plan to examine what the top health-related needs of the county are, as determined by residents.
Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf tells Raccoon Valley Radio a survey is available now for residents as part of their Community Health Assessment that asks people their thoughts on what they believe to be the most important health issues. Wolf says once the survey closes on April 15th, they collect that data and then join with community partners this summer to narrow the issues to the top three. A strategic “roadmap” is then developed and reviewed before it is released to the public in mid-November.
Wolf is hoping to get at least 500 responses to the survey.
“When we did this back in 2015-16 we had, seems like it was right around 200 to 250 people that responded, which was surprising to me and I was really happy about that, but now I’m going to up the ante.”
Wolf notes that the assessment is typically done every five years, but the last few years were interrupted by the covid pandemic.
“Public health agencies were so very overwhelmed with everything covid that the state said, ‘We’re going to give you a bye and we’re not going to have it required until the end of (20)23. Which was a huge relief for everybody.”
Wolf points out the survey is done anonymously and the survey is available in several locations including, on the Greene County Public Health Facebook page or by clicking the link below, as well as paper copies are available at the medical center, public health department, and the family medicine and specialty clinics of the medical center.
