Greene County Medical Center is offering a new service starting next week.

The Walk-In Clinic will be housed in the Family Medicine Clinic, starting April 3rd, from 7am-4:30pm Monday-Friday on a first-come, first-served basis. Patients can be seen for a variety of services with the Walk-In Clinic including cold and flu, allergies, fevers, cuts, abrasions, minor sports injuries, infections and other like issues. Greene County Medical Center Board of Trustee member Bill Raney says this was something the Board wanted to expand to, which was spurred on by the medical center’s same-day appointments.

“Urgent clinics are all over the place in the larger cities and Millennials, my kids included, they want that service now. Not that they aren’t patient but they have a sense that they need something they want to get it taken care of, and so this will allow them to get in right away, to seek medical attention, and in some cases to keep them out of the ER. Which is good for their pocketbooks because in most cases this is going to be a cheaper way to get those services then going through the ER.”

Raney points out the medical center was averaging 12 appointments per day with the same-day services, which will continue in tandem with the Walk-In Clinic. Patients can choose either one for services. Contact the Family Medicine Clinic for more information at 515-386-0500.
